I thought it was quite ambitious and ultimately let down by the horrendous number of bugs and glitches. While not my favourite TR game, I thought it was generally much better than Chronicles and it had a pretty good plot...but I just couldn't finish it as the game kept crashing and glitching out on me.
What I find somewhat amusing is that people complained about the RPG elements in AoD (i.e. being able to talk to people you encountered) and the fact that Lara started off fairly weak but grew stronger as the game progressed. These are two features that found their way back into the TR franchise a decade later. ;-)

Who can forget Janice? "Move along mon cher, you make the place look crowded" Defiantly in the top 10 of NPCs!

It was an interesting concept but honestly, the developers didn't know a thing about leveling up an already character who was known to have incredible acrobatic, fighting, and deductive skills. I hate how they dumbed down Lara in TR6. Lara seemed to be this hobo on the side of the road trying to find a weapon, running away from the police, bartering with people (classic, hardcore Lara would of never done that), all while playing detective on a murder mystery.

I personally loved AOD because of Lara's badass attitude and also all of the different places you got to visit in the game for example the louvere.

I love it! It's my favourite one. It's just so different from the other Core Design classics, the levels and the environment are the best so far. The Louvre and the Hall of Seasons are my favourite levels from all TR's. It's such a disappointment that the game is so full of bugs, errors and it does have such a terrible gameplay, BUT it still so good.

I love AoD! Whilst the controls are not the greatest (I had many glitches and problems controlling Lara and Kurtis on the PlayStation 2) the plot and soundtrack are an absolute standout for me. Earlier in this thread the 'strength' system was mentioned. I actually find it very fitting as Lara had only just escaped out of the tomb she was trapped in at the end of The Last Revelation. But I do agree that it could have been pulled off better. The only problem with AoD, was that it was such an ambitious project that was very unfinished due to deadlines and management, but I still respect Core Design for the amount of effort involved in the game. It's just such a shame a continuation of the game never saw the light of day.

I'm very middle ground about it... In one respect, I love it. In another, I could not get to grips with the controls and laggy excuse for running I have to have a lot of patience when playing it!
