At this years MCM London Expo in May, I will be doing my first attempt at cosplay and what better source than Tomb Raider right? After discussing with my friend Kez (a Lara cosplayer), it was decided I will attempt to portray Pierre Dupont from Tomb Raider Anniversary as there was a little similarity between myself and him (no French accent unfortunately though). Other characters considered were Rig from Dead or Alive 5 and Jake from Resident Evil 6. Now I have pretty much had to start from scratch on this, buying in items as needed to complete the costume. The things required are as follows: Black leather gloves. £0 (already had)Brown jacket - Preferably with a suede/moleskin like finish £0 (Friend offered to me)Mustard trousers/combats £10Beige roll neck jumper £10
Black boots - Possibly army surplus £0 (Brother had a pair I could use)Left and right leg gun holsters £10 each2 identical pistols £10 each. Paint £7
- Beard and moustache - Ok so I need to make sure I grow these in time.
Total cost (excluding paint): £67I'll post up items as I get them and a complete/part stage pictures of the costume as it comes together.

I got my gun holsters. One is a little smaller than the other though both were described the same, but it is not too big an issue. I ordered the pistols last night from the site Lori posted up in her cosplay post. They were cheap and orange but I'm sure a bit of paint will fix that. The mustard coloured trousers were ordered. I got chinos, though would have preferred regular fit combat pants for the pockets but couldn't quite find the colour I wanted. Will see how they look when they arrive.

Tried to order a jacket that I thought matched what I was after, but Ebay was being foolish and wouldn't log me in until after bidding stopped. Luckily after I ranted about my missed opportunity, a friend said he had a brown jacket I could have at no cost. While not quite the finish I was after, I think this could pull off and would suit the outfit. This is the image I was sent of the jacket. It's a dark brown leather effect, though don't think the lighting does it too much justice.

The thing I am having trouble to find is the roll neck jumper at a reasonable price and the right colour. I want it to have a ribbed collar and be reasonably fitted. Not sure on thickness as a chunky knit style might be a bit too warm in May.
I do have black boots, but they are Dr Martins with a steel toe, so will take a gander for some Army surplus ones that will be better and more comfortable.

For the guns I am debating on painting them chrome with a brown wood-like effect grip or painting them black with the red bar for a more nostalgic look similar to his TR1 pistols.

You are aiming for a more distressed look right? Hopefully someone can give tips on how to achieve that if it is what you want to do still.

Yeah I've seen a few hints around etc so will give it a go... should be fun! Thing is, I'm not going to have time to do the full costume now due to time dleays with ordering things and lack of creativity/fund/general uselessness at life, so I'm going to be doing the recently shipwrecked Lara, rather than fully equipped Lara! :/

I too am trying to do on a budget and really lack any artistic/creative skills. I look forward to seeing yours and Jay's full outfits

What are you missing? Rident so hope I see you at MCM, seeing Pierre would make my day however I'll probably wish I was traditional Lara (which is for Manchester comiccon me thinks unless like 2013 lara too much!) I love how a few of us are going MCM in May, complete coincident but it just shows what a small world it is! ...Is it wrong I want to find a starbucks, go in costume and then when they ask me what name I want on my drink I can say "Lara" and have them write it on a cup. They'll probably think I'm mental (okay...they wouldn't be that far off...) but great photo op

I'm missing pretty much everything lol! The only things I have are the necklace, the boots and the axe (in transit... I haven't even had a chance to look for the vest tops and trousers yet!!! I'm hvaing the bow made (the version in the picture on the right) but it won't be ready for another 3 months! I'm ordering a beautiful hand made gun belt as well, but can't do that until I have the trousers so I can get the right measurements, and the gun belt takes six weeks to make! And I haven't even been able to think about the arrows and the quiver, as the company who are making the bow have told us to try elsewhere! So yeah, I'm screwed! Will be awesome to see you all at MCM, have to have photos together if we do bump into one another!

If it helps any, my tops are from Primark and the trousers I bought from ebay. The bow is pretty easy to make from branches and string, I used a bush I have my garden and it took me under an hour if you wanted a put-me-on bow until your proper one arrives. I found a cheap quiver on ebay once, I'm making mine but if you are in a squeeze that might be an option? Yeah...I'm practically sponsored by ebay I hope everything comes in time , photos would be great! Shame my other half is going as a bloody Jedi!

Yeah I was told by someone else about the bow and how to make it, but I have no trees round me that I can steal branches from... not without being done for vandalism probably! I was thinking of making the quiver, but I don't really see the point at the moment when I have no bow to go with it!

Well if you need a bow or something else just throw me a PM and I'll be more than happy to help out/sort something out.

See this is how the community pulls together I have only recently started getting things. My main prob will be the jumper as Spring/Summer ranges are now stocked (not that I've seen any signs of Spring yet).

Ooh cool thanks. Yeah, it wasn't always so hard to find the style, but the colour proves to be the bigger issue.

Think the first option looks more like it. Might be a bit thick and warm but it seems right

Who'd have thought something so simple as a ribbed cream jumper could prove such a difficulty!

I know right!? I used to work in a store which had loads of the blasted things. Just a shame the company went under a couple of years ago
