Is GoT anyone's' cup of tea? I actually started watching it right off because I love Sean Bean so much. After LotR came out, I went to pretty much any show/movie that an actor from LotR was in went to. I have read the first book and a half, but I mostly stopped reading that so I didn't compare what they left out or what they added. I love the show for its production values, and I want to enjoy it for what it is. I also am happy with that decision because then I didn't know that things like the Red Wedding were going to happen... it was shocking to the core and I didn't have to contemplate what episode that would fall in and how they were going to handle it, you know? I have a Margaery Tyrell costume in the works

I absolutely adore Game of Thrones, which is a bit of a curse considering I live in the UK and don't have Sky! I have only just finished Series two and am gagging to watch series 3, which I know won't happen for a while I've also started to read the books, but I'm only half way through book 1, and it takes me frustratingly long time to read books as I only get to read them for 20 minutes each way on my commute to and from work! I would LOVE to do a GoT cosplay!

Ai! Sorry my post was a teeny bit spoiler-y then. Hopefully it was vague enough.
I quite liked the books, but I am a slow reader, to be sure. I'm sorry that you haven't been able to see series 3 yet! I think it just keeps getting better and better! :]
I decided to stop reading as much and just watch when I got to Book two before the Clash of Kings series started airing. And I was so confused by the other two Baratheon's and kids, and the Red Priestess lady and all these new characters that they threw in right away that I gave up for a while. And now it all makes sense... since I watched it. Though I did read all of book one before series one finished airing.. and that's when I started comparing too much for my liking. hmmmm.

Oh don't worry it's ok, I know all about the red wedding because a local newspaper in London decided to spoil it for everyone that hadn't seen it!
I prefer to read books after seeing a TV show or film, otherwise I compare too much as well and cant enjoy it on the screen if something is missing from the book!

I agree! In Middle school we had to do a couple papers comparing film to book. I'm not sure why that was necessary- perhaps to understand interpretation? In any case I remember doing my papers on "The Da Vinci Code" and "Timeline". Timeline was the most disappointing movie ever after reading it, even though I loved the actors. So disappointing. Things like Harry Potter and Hunger Games I have been able to handle the translation between the two, and mostly understood what they left out and why. I totally agree, Reading after is easier/nicer because then you can say "awwww why did they leave that out" instead of getting irrationally angry about it, like me ;]

I love Game of Thrones! I think that it is such a good series. I had a friend recommend the first book in the series to me just when the first season of the show was released and was hooked on the book series! I eventually caught up with the TV series and I would have to say that the books are better, but the show does a pretty good job at adapting it to a TV audience.

I love how both the books and the show have their own special qualities that make them absolutely amazing for their own reasons.

I really need to sit down and watch this, but somehow I've slipped so far behind! I'm still only up to S2 of Breaking Bad, S2 of True Blood and ep3 of Da Vincis Demons! Completely useless with TV series!

Whoa. I haven't even heard of Da Vinci's Demons O.o I am way behind on True Blood.... and haven't gotten into Breaking Bad yet. I have been slowly but surely been making my way through "Vampire Diaries"

Da Vinci's Demons seemed to sneak a lot of people by! It is very good and is worth a watch. It is like Assassins Creed DLC the TV show however . I gave up on Vampire Diaries, I just couldn't stand the characters and stories anymore

I have been dying to watch Da Vincis Demons for ages (being a massive fan of the real Da Vinci and the Medicis etc) but as I don't have sky, I can't watch it! I feel like my life is so empty because I don't have sky!

Lovelovelove Game of Thrones! I need the new series now >.> Who is everyone's favourite characters? I love Dany, pretty much all the Starks bar Sansa, Tyrion, Jaime, Brienne & Sam Tarly. I think Gilly is hit and miss - I'd be upset if she died but eh... she just doesn't do it for me.

This week's Game of Thrones was stupendous. Epic stuff - The Walking Dead meets Lord of the Rings.

I loved it as well! The first half of this season has been ridiculously slow considering the build up to it; but the last two episodes have made up for that! Can't wait till next week!
