So... tomorrow means the new Tomb Raider has been out for two weeks. What is everyone's thoughts on it? Has the Reboot renewed your hopes for the franchise, or has it killed any love you had left for the games?

I feel that I had more fun with LAU, but TReboot is a much more polished and grounded experience. There are some things that need improving, but I think that it had the least amount of (annoying) flaws.
Hopefully, TR2 will be less of a story-based experience and more of an actual raiding game with all the danger and intrigue of the previous installments.

I love it. It wasn't the best but it's the best that's been out for a long time I feel. I'm very much looking forward to see how they do the next one. I too hope there's more actual raiding going on but now that the survivor has been born I'd imagine there would be.

I agree with both of you, I loved it and think it's the best one out for a very long time, but it doesn't top the best of the classics in my opinion. I am really looking forward to what they do with the next one and really hoping it will be less story driven and more about the adventure and the tomb raiding.

It is not my favourite, though it did have me very hooked all the way through. I did have a few issues especially with the hand-holding throughout via on-screen and audio hints and the stupidly simple puzzles.
Without doubt an excellent game and a very welcomed entry into the Tomb Raider series.

Would have been nice to have had some booby traps set about the place, especially in the (not so) hidden tombs. Was hoping after trying the multiplayer at SQENIX that the spike traps would have featured in the game or even some classic boulders and spike pits.

I feel as if there should be an option of, "I loved it (but wasn't the best Tomb Raider game)" instead of just 'Liking it but don't think it's the best TR game'. Anyways, I chose 'Loved it!'

Was hoping after trying the multiplayer at SQENIX that the spike traps would have featured in the game or even some classic boulders and spike pits. I was very surprised by the lack of actual traps. Especially in places like the shanty town and the Oni palace (can't remember what it was called). I did love the rope traps that have Lara strung upside down but some proper, instant death ones would've been really something special. Especially in the, like you said, not so hidden tombs. Hopefully the next one will be traps galore. I really want my boulders and spikes back. Especially the spikes. Ones that shoot up out of the floor Last Revelation style - those things scared the crap out of me.

Omg but the traps just killed me, I'm a really sub-standard player so whenever traps were involves I was just always dead. It was kind of a relief to get away from them. I really miss auto-aim. I'm a really, really bad shot so all this first-person shooting malarkey is just impossible for me. I've lost count of the amount of times I've tried to be sneaky but failed because of my crap aim. Always, the unlocking costumes! I loved that, being able to change what she was wearing, it was adorable. And Croft Manor! I love that place

I enjoyed the game in its own right (LOVED using the bow as my primary weapon) but I still prefer the style and game play of the older titles, especially the Core era ones. There were too many gun battles for my liking but I did enjoy exploring the island and liked some of the new features (again, loved the fact you could use a bow). Since this is an origin story, I'll give the developers and writers the benefit of the doubt and not complain too much about the fact that there should have been more tombs and puzzles. Perhaps they'll focus on these a little more in the sequel. ;-)

Its interesting cos on other sites people are talking about the game being turned into a `casual` game.. but i think people truly dont get the definition of casual at all. To be `casual` is a game like bejeweled blitz or words with friends.. Games you play on the move or for a few minutes at a time.
TR is NOT casual by that definition, not in the slightest.

I have never thought, in all my gaming, that Tomb Raider was considered a 'casual game' by any means at all. Core Design or Crystal Design and sadly enough, its games like Super Mario and more, that a lot of the time can set the standard bar for casual gaming. And then people don't know really know how a game is, or it's definition because they're stereotype all gaming as Super Mario style of casual gaming.

Ok, I finally finished TR after 5 months...on and off. It was good, it was worth playing to the end. The game has it up and down but it very good, worth putting it in my top 3.
I was slightly dissappointed with very last part of the game, it could have been done better.

I really loved it. It is definitely my Game Of The Year 2013.
I picked it up a couple days after launch day. As soon as I started playing it, I was hooked form start to finish.
I would have liked if they included more tombs, and made them a little more hidden. The puzzles could have been a little harder, but then again, this was supposed to be Lara's first adventure. She wasn't yet the dual wielding backflip ninja we all know and love. I could have done without the multiplayer. It felt tacked on and it would have been better to spend that time working on the single player instead.
Well, that's my 2 cents. :3
