O M G thats MENTAL!! *goes to enquire internally*
okay they've given them as `we know they've not been announced, we promise you'll pay the lowest price when announcement made` but still my GOD talk about over exaggerating a bit

It is stupidly exaggerated! I don't know what Amazon thought they would achieve putting them up.

I'm sure they'll quickly change though once they have a more solid figure!
They probably put them up as they noticed a lot of people doing searches maybe for the games, so thought they'd jump at the chance to get the preorders in.
Luckily with Amazon preorders, if you preorder something and the price changes before you've received the item, then they only charge you the cheapest price.

Glad they're listening to the consumers and learning their place, but I still only trust Sony so I'll be going with PS4 =)

This makes for a fairer playing field for the consumer and adds back the true competition. Now watch some of those polls balance out.

The price difference is now the remaining `sticking` block for some, but you put the camera price onto the PS4 and its not much different.. Xbox REQUIRING the Kinect so included may make some go `meh` but its still meaning u get everything u need from the beginning.. Am sure at some point there'll be something released for PS4 which needs the camera and people will have to buy it

It wouldn't surprise me if they make it necessary once consumers were to actually buy the consoles. ---- Honestly, I don't trust them with a stone's throw of intelligence when it comes to business or the opinions of their customers/fans. The reason why they 'changed' (and who really knows if that's actually true as I mentioned above) is because they didn't care at all about fans or about decency, with wanting people to pay so much for such a bad console. Now that their money is in jeopardy, it's 'We care and listen to the fans'. What a bunch of bull.

MS does a full 360 more like. To be honest didn't we all see this coming? At least it is a fairer playing field now. Still don't trust them as far as I could throw them

Thing i find funny tho.. Sony HAS all this too, but just didnt actually say anything and decided not to `push it out`.. big difference MS went first.. Digital IS going to replace disc.. hate or loathe it, its gonna happen.. MS were just trying to use this new gen as the first step on this.. Digital purchases already exist on PS3/360 and guess what the DRM on those is so strict its untrue, so MS's actual NEW DRM was more lenient, the DIFFERENCE being that the precious disc was being brought into the mix.. people are incredibly protective of that 4.7" of plastic give it a few more years and they WILL be in the museums of gaming.

I would guess their push is to only put out a quality product and to match that would be to include a suitable quality headset which would drive up the price even more.

Much like CD's are for many who use digital purchases and streaming services like Spotify. Film seems to be going that way too with the likes of Netflix and downloading movies (legitimately) from the likes of iTunes and such. I see it as inevitable and has already become a staple to PC gaming. See where this goes in a few years.

Exactly.. consumers need to look forward not backwards.. whilst these changes are `great` in consumers eyes and give them the power etc, what they dont realise is by not changing and moving forward is just going to keep pushing publishers towards bankruptcy and big stores like gamestop/game will keep growing and controlling the market (which consumers HATE so why do they continue to back things that allow them to do this?) Its a vicious circle which this new system WOULD have broken.. oh well.. look to seeing more layoffs and publishers being bought by bigger publishers soon

Price I think was a big problem in this debate, I may be wrong but wasn't MS going to charge the same price for a digital download as they were for the physical disk? If they wanted people to go more towards digital then pricing it in a way that competed with steam and making look like a viable options for consoles probably would have been a good idea.
Also I think people were ready to accept digital downloads of music with the rise in popularity of mp3 players. With games we are not quite there yet unless you are on pc, consoles were always about the quick set up, the plug and play. By the time a big data file game downloads on a console, I might as well have gone out and bought it.

As i said was a vicious circle that needed to be broken somewhere.. it WILL at some point..
the fact you can download and start playing the game before its finished downloading is a stroke of genius, currently i think thats PS4 only (but am sure MS working on same concept)

Got to admit, I'd be one of those who would keep on buying disks as long as possible. It's not just the game, in a way it's part of my decor having everything lined up and displayed. They are conversation starters and I just like having something physical. I suppose it is the social elements to it? Okay I know I am coming off as really backwards now I do have steam as well but I only have it for indie games .

Wellt he thing is, look at how big the digital music scene is now... but we still have CDs! Discs have been around for 30 years and still seem to be going strong, if just not as popular as they originally were...
I don't see the problem in moving forward, as long as there's an option for those who aren't so cutting edge to still be involved with the gaming world!

Yeah, I'd hate to see discs/packaged games to disappear altogether. Having a cheaper digital option would work better to push more towards what is being aimed for in the future and having those who like a packaged product paying a more premium price for that like they do with music today.
Whilst I was a bit upset by the whole inability to share my games/take to a friends to play etc (before details of the game share system came out) I had to think, when do I ever take a game to a friends to play? Do I ever borrow from friends anymore? Before the advance to online multiplayer sure, I used to take Quake, Unreal, Goldeneye and other games to friends for some split screen multiplayer but that's not happened for many years now so that policy really wouldn't affect me. I am not fussed I can't share my Steam games. In actual fact not being able to share reduces the risk of lending and never getting it back! xD
