Recently I've started to notice that a lot of people think the achievement system is a waste of time when it comes to games. And while I respect a persons opinion when it's actually well thought out and explained..this just makes no sense to me. In the older days of gaming the replay was brought on by the unlockables you could get, they pretty much became the achievements now seeing as how most games don't use Cheat codes or have many unlockables anymore.
Sure I can understand why some people wouldn't wanna waste time getting them, but for me personally it keeps my attention on the game for months to come. Always gives me a reason to go back and play the games when there really isn't any replayability to it "Heavy Rain" would be a good example.
So what are your thoughts and opinions on Achievements?

I can take them or leave them really, I think it depends on how much I like the game. With the newest TR, I haven't been fussed as much at getting ALL of the trophies, only certain ones... and especially the GPS one because of the little easter egg you get with it! TLOU is probably the only game I can think of at the moment where I am pretty determined to get every single trophy! I just don't think gamers have the attention spans these days. They like to play a game once and then forget all about it and move on to the next one, I prefer to take my time and obsess over a particular game for a few years!

Achievements aren't a huge big deal to me. I mean, I guess you could say I'm a trophy whore to a certain degree (I have quite a few) but I could go without them. The only thing that bugs me about trophies is that I feel like when I play a game, I feel the need to get the trophies and once I get all of them, I'm done with the game. Even if the game has a lot of replaybility. I also know when it comes to myself and trophies, I tend to have a harder time playing a game after beating it if the trophies are aggravating or take too long. I don't seem to have a problem with the older games like PS2 or PS1 games (since they don't really have trophies or unlockables all that much). But I noticed through time, I've gotten a little frustrated with trophies and games. It seems to me, in a way, that after you get all the trophies, the game seems to have no further appeal (but really, that's probably just me). Simple answer: I have trophies. They don't bother me. I don't hate them. Annoying trophies are annoying trophies.

I like collecting trophies, I'd love to platinum a game but there isn't much chance of that lol. I don't think I'll get them all in TR as I'm useless at the multiplayer on it.

I like achievements, especially when I get them without even following those silly achievement guides. What I don't like is when they have achievements for multiplayer. I find multiplayer trophies can be quite annoying to get.
Simple answer? I like them, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if they got rid of them.

I adore achievements as I've so competitive! But the perfectionist in me hates online or DLC exclusive ones >.>
