So it has been confirmed that Microsoft will be publishing Rise of the Tomb raider... Whether or not this means that this is the final nail in the coffin for any hope of an eventual PS4 release of the game is anybody's guess until we have official word, but people are starting to fear the worst... MS publishing ROTTR means no TR for PlayStation? What do you guys think? Should we jump to conclusions? I mean, we've had nothing to say either way what is happening! Does this mean the end of TR on the PlayStation? An almost 20 year long relationship!

I don't know what this could mean..could be they'll just be publisher for their console since they ponied up the money. Or it could be they finally managed to get their hands on the series which is possible. Don't wanna jump to conclusions but going off this year..anything is possible. PC is probably gonna suffer just as much as the PS4 fans..if anything I don't expect to see a PC port for another 2 years at the most like Alan Wake.

Got to admit, I really didn't expect this. What saddens me most is what Kelly (Archaeology of TR) said on FB. The twentieth anniversary is coming up, there are many of us who have grown up with the series and many more who have come along later. They are all fans and we should be celebrating together. What is happening here is fracturing the community more so than any other time in TR history. Even AoD didn't seem to cause this level of disruption, more so annoyance at what it could have been (a rant for another day! x) though anyone who has read my other stuff, knows where I am coming from) Wouldn't like to be Meagan right now hope she doesn't get too much crap thrown at her.

New update... Square Enix has released a statement. www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-09-square-enix-confirms-microsoft-will-publish-rise-of-the-tomb-raider"Yes, Microsoft will be publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox. Microsoft has always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and they will get behind this game with more support across development, marketing and retail than ever before, which we believe will be a step in continuing to build the Tomb Raider franchise as one of the biggest in gaming." And still now word on whether or not there's going to be an eventual release on PS4 or PC!!!

Has anything been published by Microsoft the released on competitors consoles? Just looking at the surface information, it does not look good at all Is it just me, or does anyone else feel this has been planned long ago? From when the dlc for Underworld was released and MS got their claws in there to take the reins on the reboot.

It does look like Crystal always liked to crawl into bed with Microsoft, since they took over TR from Core! Well that's what I've always thought myself anyways... it was probably only a matter of time before MS took it over completely! As someone else said somewhere (can't remember where I read it) that PlayStation players have Uncharted, therefore Xbox should have Tomb Raider!

Certainly that is the sentiment that I have heard a lot. Not exactly the point though as they are essentially two distinct games that kinda work well in the marketplace together. The whole 'fight of the adventurers' marketing plan, which certainly looks like it is coming out, is just petty and childish.

I've never been one to join in with the console wars, it's just stupid! We're all gamers at the end of the day, why does everything have to be about comparison and who is better than who?! But this has caused the biggest rift I think, and I don't see it getting fixed anytime soon!

And because of that, one of the strongest female protagonists may be lost or at least devalued. Just what we need...

I just do not see the point in this! If it really is like Dead Rising 3, then by the time it comes out on PC (and maybe PS) no one will be interested as it would have been spoiled and played to death by those who have it on XBox! It would have lost it's appeal completely!
But it's all about earning the money in the moment isn't it I suppose, rather than thinking of future consequences!

Pretty much..only people that are gonna get something out of this is Square Enix and Microsoft. Everyone is basically gonna have to suffer and it's not right..still boycotting it even if it does come to PC. Everyone is gonna spoil it by the time it comes to PC/PS4 anyway..

I honestly don't know what to say. on one hand, the "deal" has a duration, which gives PC and PS4 owners hope we might get a port of the game. On the other hand, they refuse to tell us how long this "duration" lasts for.
Here's a crazy idea..... Why don't they come out and tell us how long this duration lasts for? wouldn't it cause less problems if they did? Why can't they give us a straight answer about it?
I get very sad whenever I read these articles. I am incredibly hyped for this game, but I cannot bring myself to buy an Xbone just to play it. I'm sure I'll buy it if it comes to PC or PS4. As for the 360 port, that depends of how good or bad it is. if it is alright, then I may consider picking it up. but I will NEVER buy a Xbone. I love tomb raider, but not enough to spend $400 on a new console just for ONE GAME! I'm sorry, but I just can't bring myself to buy the Xbone.
My only hope it that we get a PC and/or PS4 port by Holiday season 2016, or at least we get the announcement for it on the 20th anniversary of Tomb Raider.
Just my 2 cents.

To be honest I kind of get the feel that seeing as Microsoft has paid crap loads of money for this exclusive, they have kind of taken over everything, in terms of marketing and promo etc, so why would Microsoft be bothered about letting us "lesser" gamers, who don't own an Xbone, know when we will actually get to play the game
The fact that every single post that the TR and Lara Croft facebook pages share, gets endless abuse about making it an exclusive, so I'm pretty sure by now, even Crystal would have got their heads out of MS's backside long enough to notice and would want to say something, but they're being gagged by their deal with Microsoft.
Well that's my take on it anyway!
