I don't know if any of you guys have heard any of the whipserings going on about the new movie in the pipeline. Obviously GK Films have been on board for a while, but excitement kind of died down when nothing else got announced... it seems excitement is rising again after it was heard that Crystal have been talking to GK Films about taking Lara back to the beginning...Obviously, there's going to be talk about who should be playing Lara... most TR fans can get pretty uptight about who they think should replace Angie in the coveted role, but my gorgeous and talented friend Kayelgih Dray has written an entertaining article that gives a few ideas on who could possibly fit the role... Are there any ideas in this that you guys comepletely agree or disagree with? Would be interesting to see all the different opinions!

Christina Ricci, there's someone I never considered. I can actually see it working, she is fantastic at both playing vulnerable and strong characters, check out 'Monster' to see what I'm talking about.
My only concern with her is that she's quite short, she's exactly 5ft I think.

Honestly after playing through the new game I would love it if they gave the live action role to Camilla Luddington. Not only did she surpass my expectations but she made the role her own and brought so much personality to Lara. Couldn't imagine anyone else playing her at this point, she deserves to get the live action role.

Nah, really cannot see it myself! She just isn't kick ass enough! I could put up with her doing the voice, but not actually playing the part in the movie! :-P

What can I say, we are all picky about who should be playing Lara. As long as it's an actress from the UK who can actually pull off the role I'll be happy. No more Angelina nonsense XD

I have a major emotional fanboy boner for Angie so I can't really fault her, except for the forced accent.

Omg I loved Angelina Jolie and I loved her accent and she was my first ever girl crush and I just adored her in the films. But I have no idea who I'd like to play Lara for the new film, though I do know that whoever they announce I will undoubtedly have an opinion on it They better be actually British this time otherwise I'm going to have problems.

I actually liked Angelina and she's quite the actress and fit the look as well of Lara (or at least Classic Lara). However, I do believe that a British actress should play as Lara as it's just a peeve of mine when actors/actresses who have to have a specific accent don't naturally have it. Now that doesn't mean there are not talented actors/actresses who can't do those kind of parts (Just check out Peter Dinklage's acting and accent change as Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones if you don't believe me), but I just prefer a British actress to do the part. It also helps shut up the whiny folks who complain that Lara's not 'American' when they use an American actress or whatever their nationality besides British.

I didn't really mind Angelina as Lara, even though her Lara was a little more Goth/biker babe than classic Lara. Angelina's a great action heroine and I think she did a pretty good job in that respect. And I didn't think her accent was that terrible. Camilla's sounds equally forced...
As for the new Lara, I'd love to see Gemma Arterton in that role but I think she's probably a little too old to pull it off, which is a shame as I think she'd be a great Lara. Perhaps it would be best to go with an unknown actress.

I liked Angelina as Lara. She wasn't the Lara I imagined but I think she did her job well portraying her. As for a new Lara for some time now I have an idea that Yvonne Strahovski should be Lara. Of course, only if she dyes her hair. It's really subjective, though, because I'm huge fan of the TV show Chuck and she stars there But you can see she can kick-ass awesome! I know probably no one will agree with my choice, but hey, I girl can dream Another choice of mine would be Camilla Luddington. I actually haven't seen her in movies (or at least can't think of any right now) but who knows, maybe she can do it I would disagree with half of that list (http://bestforfilm.com/film-blog/top-10-actresses-wed-like-to-see-play-lara-croft ) though. There was a moment (really short one) when I thought that Jennifer Lawrence could be Lara. I got that out of my mind immediately. Of course, she could played it perfectly as the role is so similar to Katniss, and I think she's the younger it that list (or at least it appears so) but she's Katniss, not Lara. I think it would be confusing somehow... I strongly disagree that Mila Kunis and Keira Knightley could be Lara. I like them, especially Keira, but I don't want them to be Lara. Gemma Arterton would be interesting I guess... And I don't know the others so can't say anything about them, but that Haywire trailer looks pretty awesome. But wouldn't Gina be a little old to be Lara?

I actually didn't mind Jolie as Lara, but that was 10 years ago. I hope the new film goes to someone who hasn't quite made it yet because then I think the audience would focus on the character of Lara rather than Ms xyz portraying Lara compared to previous roles. Plus if it succeeded then it would be a humongous boost for her career.
I will admit, I am dubious about a film, especially as TR and games in general become more cinematic. How can the world be portrayed in a faithful yet different light, I don't want to see the game recreated, I want to see 'behind the scenes' of the game. I do hope it will succeed, and I will be first in line with my ticket (and probably cosplay'ed up x) ) but I'm hoping that the regular cinema folk whose last experience with Lara was eleven or so years ago.

I'm slightly surprised not to find Rachel Wiesz on this list. Granted, I was introduced to her via The Mummy back in 1999, but I'd quite like to see her take on the role of a more mature Lara Croft, veteran of many years in the field. Her accent is spot-on, and she has the right kind of brunnette-pallete to her looks. In fact, I remember one of the teaser clips we had back just before the voice actress for Legend was announced; I was firmly in the camp that thought it was Weisz (we'd not even heard of Keeley Hawes at the time).
As for a reboot-inspired Lara Croft... that's much trickier to choose.

I'm surprised not to find Hayley Atwell on anyone's list. The way she acts in the Captain america Movies and the Agent Carter TV series would make her an excellent choice to play Lara Croft! She is also has an excellent British accent, and she's British! I'm pretty sure she said she wanted to play Lara Croft at some point. I think she would be an excellent choice to fill Lara Croft's Hollywood boots. :3

I just though of someone else who could fill Lara Croft's Hollywood boots. What about Daisy Ridley? I love how she acted in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She has the right look and attitude to play Reboot Lara. I even found an article in the internet that says she is being considered for the role! Just remember, I read it on the internet, so it MUST be true! LOL! :3 Here is the link

I remember sitting there watching the new Star Wars movie and thinking "she would make a great Lara Croft"
I don't know if she'll get it though as I get the feeling that the studio will go for someone less known, so they are known for that character rather than something else, if you get me?!
