I've decided after much thought to make a thread for my other love and obsession: pole dancing! I know there's a lot of misconceptions and prejudice about this hobby, and people tend to see it as something more seedy than something that could actualy be considered a sport, but if you were to watch any video of a professional pole dancer competing in a competition you might think twice about it! Anyways, I'll use this thread to post my own rants or happy thoughts on how my classes are going, any competitions I hear about, any other pole dancers I find inspirational, and (if I'm brave enough) I may even post a few photos of moves I've cracked! Please note: if you're going to post here, a friendly reminder, don't post anything offensive as this isn't an age rated forum, so think before you post! Anyways, first thing I want to show was the portfolio of a photographer who does both Csoplay photoshoots AND pole dancing! Amazing! Take a look at his stuff! www.adamjay.co.uk/portfolio/

I've got mad respect for pole dancers. Some of the routines I've seen are mind-boggling and the strength and endurance required for the advanced stuff is incredible. I think it's great that it's rapidly been moving away from something that's been seen as seedy to being recognised as a proper form of exercise.
This woman is amazing. She's got some crazy moves.

Yeah Emy is very amazing, she's got such a love and dedication for the sport that it embarrasses sometimes when I say I'm a fanatic lol!
She's a lovely girl too, met in person for the first time at the TR BAFTA event a few months ago, I think which inpired her to make the video you just posted (and has it's own thread on here lol)
Another video that I find really inspiring is this one:
No matter how many times I watch it, I just get blown away by her strength and agility!

I know, she makes it look so easy!
There's moves that she does in that clip that I've been trying to learn for years!

Another great report helping (hopefully)to get rid of the stigma that pole dancing/fitness seems to carry around with it! I'm actually really chuffed that Mike Bushell has given pole a go, as I've always seen him trying out random sports and I would be thinking "Why doesn't he try out pole?!?!"So pleased to see he finally has!

I have finally cracked a move that I've wanted to get for over a year now: the shoulder mount! It feels like I've also cracked my collar bone too, but God it's worth it for the great feeling of acheievement I've had for the last 12 hours! For those who are curious as to what a shoulder mount is, you'll find a version of it here:

Congratulations on getting that move down; As I can imagine, it looks extremely difficult, and I hope you didn't actually hurt your collar bone!

No my collar bone was fine after two weeks, was just very bruised as you cna imagine! Have been getting pole withdrawal as I've been so busy recently, I haven't been able to attend any classes! Really need to get my pole back up at home and get some practise in before I lose all my strength and supplness (what little I have!) completely!

Really need to get my pole back up at home and get some practise in before I lose all my strength and supplness (what little I have!) completely! It's good to here it's okay. I can imagine that would be a really painful break, considering how many other bones and muscles the collar bone is specifically connected to. I hope you'll get the time to do some more with it; It sucks when your attention is drawn to other things that you have to get done because by the time you're finished, you feel all exhausted and worn out and don't nearly have as much energy to do what you enjoy. Are there any other moves you've been trying to nail lately?
