Very interesting article on Eurogamer today www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-22-systems-vs-storiesIt pits `The last of us` against `State of decay`.. on paper they are worlds apart, but as `games` Eurogamer comes up with an interesting conclusion that as a GAME the underdog, almost broken, State of Decay is a better game then TLOU.. How is this relevant to the new TR you may be wondering? well its simple, what would you prefer the new game to be, a better `story` or a better `system`

I quickly scanned this article... To be fair, games as well as movies, have always been about escapism for me. What does it matter if a game plays like a movie because it's still interactive at the end of the day and I still enjoy playing the bits between the cinematics! With The Last of Us, I have felt more emotionally involved with the characters than I have with any other game I have played and to me that was a great experience to have and made it even more enjoyable to push on with the game. But then you still have to cater to those who couldn't care less about story and just want to do their own thing and not be told where they need to go or what they need to do, which is fair enough and there's plenty of games that still do that! When it comes to TR specifically, I think the franchise has had it's cast set over the years and people know what to expect (or what they want) from the gameplay, so to suddenly turn a game that was all about the puzzles and the locations etc into something like an interactive movie would lead to a lot of anger with fans I think, myself included! I don't think either story or system based games are better than the other, as long as they're done right! But when it comes to Tomb Raider: if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
