I am biased, because I have taken up archery, but I wondered if anyone else had been inspired by Lara to try it? Or maybe you had already given it a go? I saw on The Archaeology of Tomb Raider facebook page that I am not the only person who is archery-ing (so to speak), and today I got my bow! I spend over 2 hours at the shop, and was able to try out different things so that I got the right bow. I've got a recurve bow, and managed to colour co-ordinate everything I've gone for black and red, and am getting some arrows made for me to continue the colour theme I've got my recurve bow, with 26lb draw weight to start off with. When I was trying it out, the difference between this and the beginner's bow I used at my summer course -- my bow is so much more powerful. The arrows were making a real *thump* into the target! I'm picking up my arrows tomorrow, and will be able to get in a cheeky practice at the shop's target range to test them out!!

That's really cool! You should post some pictures! I've always wanted to take up archery (I had a friend when I was in college who did it, and I always thought it sounded awesome!), but I don't think there's anywhere near me that does it... That and my pole dancing classes are pretty expensive so can't afford to learn anything else!

I'd love to hear more about your archery so I can vicariously enjoy it through your learning . I had a look to see if there were any archery clubs around me, there is but it is quite expensive and they don't have any places on their bi-annual learning courses. So until that clears up and I am able to get a proper job to afford archery lessons and equipment, unfortunately that idea is put on hold! I feel like I wasted some of my time at uni now because I could have done it for a lot less and get into a little group with other people.

I've always been pretty fond of archery. I'm not so good at it, but I'll occasionally take a really dumb green bow out and shoot at a box in the yard

I've always wanted to attempt at archery since I was a child. Maybe it's because I've always been obsessed with medieval fantasy In all serious though, when I get a proper full time job and I can afford it, I will definitely try it out then

It is quite an awesome pastime! I'm really enjoying it I'm quite terrible, but surely I can only get better I've learned how to do that thing when you fire the bow and let it drop from your hand, which is pretty satisfying (especially when I actually hit the target!) I've got a couple of photos from my phone - unfortunately I don't have one right now of the bow when its all set up and ready to fire, but hopefully some of the bits can be made out from the picture.
