It was a massive shock when I put my laptop on and saw the posts this afternoon.
As I wrote on the Survivor Reborn FB page (I'm Gemma A) the thing that makes me feel sick is that the TR people must have known for a long time that the game was going to be an xbox exclusive, but were okay to let fans of different platforms get excited and start saving, even upgrade to ps4 in anticipation of buying the game next year, and now... ugh.
I'm disappointed.Really, really disappointed. I am a massive TR fan who hasn't, and won't, pay a fortune to get an xbox one in order to play just one game.

I am one of those people who are (were?) saving for a PS4, I've got it all worked out, buying in Oct/Nov 2015 just in time for the December release. Hahahaha....ha
In a way, we all knew that MS had more of a favour between Underworlds' extra levels, the TR controller, the timed exclusive tomb etc. This just seems beyond stupid. Taking a game that has been multi platform since '96 and turning it into an exclusive. Not only that, but wasn't TR more popular on PS than on Xbox?
What else really annoys me is that it is isolating the sub communities. TR has one of the best, most creative and supporting communities. There is Katie with her award winning website that has been going for 13 years? Where is she going to get screenshots from now? The modding community from the PC versions, no that has gone for rise too. There is the cosplay community, which in many ways provide free marketing by embodying Lara at conventions and through photography. I'm pretty sure that I won't be the only one who won't want to create a cosplay because either I haven't been able to play the game or doesn't want to support the stance.
I understand new IPs being exclusive, they are purposefully made for that console. It's annoying if you want to play it, but no big deal. Your console of choice will also have their own unique games. That is okay. But TR has always been multi, personally I've played it on saturn, PC, PS1, PS2 and PS3. Just generally bad business practice. However I'm guessing MS paid out the big buck eh?
That picture of Camilla came to mind today, was it really about the graphics? Is this how they are going to reason it? Pretty sure the PS4 and especially PC would be miles ahead. Not that it even really matters! I'd rather have less mocapping and worse graphics so that it was able to be on all platforms.
Hearing now that it could be a timed exclusive. Pretty sure this is a U Turn with the reaction. You know what to do when this happens? Wait out for the other versions, preorder if you must. Can you imagine if other versions sell better than the 'exclusive'?!

This isn't right at all. Make Tomb Raider 2013 exclusive, launch the spinoff Osiris multiconsole, and yet, the sequel to 2013 is exclusive to Xbox One? You have got to be kidding me right now.
Well, whatever. Watch and see fan reaction get pretty bad to this. Also, are they retarded? TR sold under expectations and they expect a game exclusive to a single console to sell to expectations? Ha. This isn't cool, its a slap in the face to fans, and CD will regret it.

From the reaction I've seen from other employees at Crystal on twitter, they didn't even know about it either! I think it was a last minute decision by the big wig Darrell Gallagher who just saw big dollar signs by Microsoft and agreed with it without telling his own staff!!! I really hope his head is on some serious block right now!!! Hearing now that it could be a timed exclusive. Pretty sure this is a U Turn with the reaction. You know what to do when this happens? I just wanted to express my disappointment in this matter... I have been excited for ROTTR ever since I saw the trailer and I wanted to get it wo bad. I have been saving money for a PS4 for quite some while now and I honestly don't know what to do now... I really want a PS4 since there are so many next gen Games I really want to play and I never considered getting an X BOX One since...well it really isn't a bad console but it is a lot weaker than the PS4 and even more expensive and stuff so it would just be really dumb ti buy one. However Tomb Raider is one of the most important things to me and I don't want to miss Rise so I honestly don't know what I am supposed to do now! How can Crystal expect me to choose between what I actually want or what I need just for something that it really important to me?!? I can't afford both since I'm just a student and I don't have the money for everything I would need just to play one game! What do they expect me to do now?! I just hate what they did! They don't even give a Shit about anyone but themselves it seems! What about: The Games are for the players so they can enjoy them!? I want to enjoy this game the way I want to and not the way they want me to!
And honestly when I heard the news a part of me just died! I knew I wouldn't be able to play this game right away and that this could mark the end of the franchise and of a character who taught me so much and inspired me to overcome my fears...I don't want this to happen but it appears to be too late. Only a miracle could save us now or Sony with a whole lot of money but this is highly unlikely to happen...

I was shocked at first. Now I am enraged! What are they thinking?!? It took Tomb raider 2013 over a year to finally break even and turn a profit. Do they honestly think they will meet sales expectations by making it an exclusive? I was so looking forward to the new game. I was even going to start saving for a new Gaming PC so I could play it to it's fullest. But now apparently Crystal thinks I will drop $400 on a Xbox 1 just so I can play one game. This action is only going to alienate fans.
Who knows. Maybe if we get angry enough, we might get them to reverse their actions, or at the very least, have them make a PC port of the game.

My mind has gone blank; but does anyone else know of any games that were multi and then turned exclusive?

There's only one I can think of, and that's Ninja Gaiden en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_GaidenWas a massive multiplatform game, then suddenly 1 version was xbox ONLY. Fans went nuts.. it EVENTUALLY came out on other platforms but the damage was done

That's really interesting...any information on why it was released on the other platforms eventually? Perhaps there is still hope for Rise...
