Wellt he thing is, look at how big the digital music scene is now... but we still have CDs! Discs have been around for 30 years and still seem to be going strong, if just not as popular as they originally were... I don't see the problem in moving forward, as long as there's an option for those who aren't so cutting edge to still be involved with the gaming world! Agreed. While I don't mind the whole 'digital only' idea, it does perturb me a bit because I just like having that copy in my hand and keeping it in my collection of games. As you said, there should be an option for both. Gaming developers and publishers would still make money off of hard copies even with the digital outlook. Heck, most people I know, if not almost all of them purchase actual copies of games rather than downloading them.

I dont think there would be such a big push to digital if retailers didnt make demands as they do for exclusives, and terms for SOR etc.. obviously we're in a world of commercialism so of course you understand they're just trying to make money, but they dont care if it overcomplicates things for consumers or costs publishers more as long as they make THEIR cut (hence why they will fight vehemently for 2nd hand sales, cos they make ALL the money there - and consumers get ripped off royally when you actually look at how much they BUY a 2nd hand game at and to how much they resell it on for)

I have had an Xbox 360 for two years. The only real reason I would get "the one" is so that all my achievements would be able to transfer over, and I wouldn't have to pay for two subscriptions (I.E. if I got the 4 and kept the 360, thus having to pay for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation PLUS.) I also like Forza and Halo, but not enough to spend almost $500 on a new system for them.
This is a very hard choice for me to make. I don't really need all the extra bells and whistles the "one" offers, but it would be difficult to start from scratch If I switched to Sony.
The biggest reason for me to pick the ps4 is it's backwards compatibly feature they are setting up later in 2014, as I there are quite a few gems that I've missed out on (I.E Metal Gear Solid 4, God of war, Uncharted, etc.)
Should I stick with Microsoft, or should I switch over to Sony, where "greatness awaits"? (pun intended)
P.S Sorry if this is a necropost and kind of off topic

I have reached my decision. I'll go with the PS4. I'll probably wait until Christmas of 2014 until I get it, however. The reason I'm going with the PS4 is because it's $100 cheaper, more powerful, and there will be a backwards capability steaming service set up in 2014 to play old PlayStation games.

I personally will not support a digital only option if they decide to stop making games on disks with the cases I'd stop buying them, simple as that. When I buy a product I have a right to actually have a physical product in my hand.
Also Xbox One has been sold early to various people by accident.

I have always preferred physical copies of games whenever possible. If I am going to be paying $60 for a game, I want something I can actually hold and keep in my collection of games. The only time I can agree with digital copies of games is with steam games, and that's only if I cant find a physical copy of the game.

Pretty much the same opinion I share.
