www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2013/mar/04/lara-croft-reinvention-of-sex-symbolI know this article is quite old, but I thought 3 months down the line of the game being released was a good time to ask this question: It's already been discussed several times what you guys think of the rebooted game, but now let's discuss what you think of the rebooted Lara... Do you think she's a realistic, badass portrayal of a young strong female character, who is an improvement over Core's "Cartoonish" misproportioned version of a feminist hero? Or do you think the emotion she shows in the game make her weak? Will be interesting to see what you think...

Personally think original lara was more badass.. just because you werent told of the emotions she thinking or going thru, it was up to YOU what you thought she feeling.. She was just blasting away at everything, no running commentary

My vote is that she's still badass, just in a different way. I don't honestly see how having no emotions or at least, not showing them makes you 'badass'; It just makes you cold, callous and that's exactly what classic Lara headed downhill. She was just too...unforgiving. Don't get me wrong, I love classic Lara as much as the next person, and deep down, she'll always be more badass due to that fact of her inescapable love of tombs, her determination to press on through gun battles, firefights, and even situations she knew she couldn't win, her drive for the unknown, mystery and exploration, her attitude and confidence that she could conquer any situation (whether she really could or not) is what made her attractive and badass, not that she had very little to no emotions.

I agree, she is still badass; the 'go to hell' line being particularly notable. Mainly because I wasn't expecting it as up to then she had been pleading with the scavengers to stop resorting to violence. I was really wrapped up the storyline and after that section I too was really tired of seeing hoards of enemies and being taunted from being the glass. So when it came to him being on the floor, everything else silent my first thought was just to walk away (which I started to do) and then I thought, you know what, f this. When Lara said that line I was shocked, but it felt good! So much so I reloaded the save to hear it again XD . It was badass at the right time, at the right level. Sometimes the classics were just too much, still love them though! And AoD was the ultimate badassary of Ms Croft simply due to her mannerisms and quick one liners.

As much as I love the new Lara and she really is a step up from Legend Lara personality wise..she still isn't as bad ass as Core's Lara. Though there were tons of moments which reminded me of classic Lara so they're on the right track.

I'm really not sure. On one hand, I think classic Lara is obviously more badass because she killed without remorse, showed little or no emotion over what she was doing and she got hurt with only small repurcussions. However, the realism of the new lara makes me think she's badass, as she feels and hurts and yet, is still successful.

I clicked 'yes' -- although I think I ought to explain it a bit, because I was/am torn. I think reboot Lara showed signs of being badass in the game (like stabbing baddies in the leg with arrows before killing them, and not being afraid to kill/eat animals etc), but there was still some kind of innocence to her - she did often look like a rabbit caught in headlights I feel that even though the occasions were spread out through the game, when reboot Lara was being badass, she was totally so! Its exciting to think how badass she might be in the next game(s). Though, she wasn't quite as badass as earlier games Lara -- hopefully she will get her motorbike in the next game and her badass points will skyrocket

Before she was a naughty British sociopath. Now she's just a Americanesque psychopath. (IMHO.)

I think in the end of the game Lara was just as badass as the older games

I'm torn. I feel they are both badass, but for different reasons. Core Lara was badass in the sense she never showed her emotions or felt remorse about what she did. On the other hand, Reboot Lara felt more.... human in her sense as badassitude. For some reason, she felt more believable to me. I noticed little bits of badass showing through out the game. Lines like "I'm coming for you all!", "go to hell", and "Better keep your distance, then" ,made me think "yep, this is the Lara croft we all know and love!" :3
While she might not quite as badass as core lara in the beginning, buy the end of the game I think they are now about the same in terms of badassitude.
Well, that's my .02 cents
