I feel like I'm spamming, lol. I sure hope I'm not! But I did want to share my recent variant of 'Escape the Ordinary' with the forum. If you're interested in what I said about the piece and why I chose what I chose for the atmosphere, ambience, etc., you can read it here (or just click on the piece).

Spot on, Laurie I confess - the second one does it for me because TR4 was my first and I still have an enormous soft-spot for it

Well, a bunch of life stuff came up along with a lot of work so I had to temporarily abandon my most recent Lara piece, but tonight, I was able to make some progress on it.

Welp. It's been awhile since I posted here and I haven't forgotten about the last piece I posted - I've just been a bit stuck on it. So while trying to get 'unstuck', I did both a drawing and a sketch of Lara recently. On the latter one, so... I'm not sure what my train of thinking was when I did this. I guess I was thinking that Lara is always in these perilous situations and yet, no one really shows her in any actual danger. Lara may be a badass, but she's is in actual danger. After sketching it really quick, I wanted to give the look of that she's holding the wall back a little as she scoots on through but it kinda ended up looking like she's in pain. Well, pushing a spiked wall away from you would probably be painful, but that's not what I exactly meant, lol.

I'm always so in awe of your work, it always encapsulates the Lara I feel I knew and loved growing up! And I love the second one, as you said it's so unusual to see art of Lara in danger, even though we know she always gets herself into these situations haha! Thanks so much for posting them!

I posted this on my Facebook and on my deviantART but not here yet. So to all the Indiana Jones and Lara fans, here ya go! Some background on the piece and why I placed her where I placed here: In Raiders of The Lost Ark, there is a scene where Indy is talking to another 'treasure hunter', his rival Belloq. And I wanted to give that feel of that moment, coming out of the streets of Cairo and into the bar. I can just see, Lara walking into the bar and she says, 'a Frenchman and an American walk into bar searching for the same treasure. Who ends up getting the treasure? Sorry gents, the answer is that the lady who already has it in her home'. (Get it? Because in TR1, the Ark of the Covenant is in her house; She's already got it!) I don't know, I think it works famously. As for the art direction of the image itself, I wanted that really sketchy, painterly look so I didn't refine everything just right, I wanted to give it that real 'raw' feel. And I wanted to give an evening theme with the sun just starting to shine in through the screening in front of the bar and the flags blowing in the dusty wind. I guess what I really wanted was that 'grand entrance' type of feel.

If this isn't awesome or what, but a fan of my works did a cosplay and photo-manipulation based on my Indiana Croft piece. Check it out!

Done a couple of pieces of Lara since I last updated here: This was a collab between myself and another artist, classic Lara imagined in the Shadow of the Tomb Raider style. This one was a fun collaboration between me and my good friend, Jerica. This was a piece I drew awhile ago and put some paints on it. I did finished my lineart of the 'Are you Ready?' piece some time ago, but never got around to putting colors on it. And this was just something fun I did, kinda random.
